How It Started (2023)
Sun And Soil Foundation began in 2023 with a clear focus: helping smallholder farmers in Malawi cope with climate uncertainty, unreliable rainfall, and limited access to energy, combined with practical farming skills could unlock year-round production and more stable livelihoods.
From Concept to Action
Our first solar powered irrigation pilot was implemented in Mzimba, proving water access can reduce fuel dependence, and support consistent production even during dry periods.
Growing Reach (2024)
Building on early success, we expanded into Nkhotakota, Nkhatabay, Mzuzu, and Lilongwe. Alongside solar irrigation installations, we delivered hands-on training in agribusiness and climate-smart agriculture, with a strong focus on women, youth, and other vulnerable groups.
The Path Ahead (2025-2030)
Today, Sun And Soil Foundation is scaling, a proven, community-rooted model. Our goal is to reach 50,000 farmers by 2030, aligned with Malawi Vision 2063, supporting climate-resilient agriculture, inclusive livelihoods, and long-term food security through clean energy.
